Taking Legislature to the People of Elliotdale

The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature  -  A people’s assembly for good governance

The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature’s annual Taking Legislature to the People programme will take place in the Amathole District Municipality on 16 October to 19 October; the venue will be the Mqhele Village in Elliotdale.

The Taking Legislature to the People programme, which entails holding a four-day House sitting outside the Bhisho precincts, serves as a vehicle to strengthen the oversight responsibility of the Legislature. It provides an opportunity for communities in the Elliotdale area to make comments or voice their concerns about local service delivery issues while engaging face-to-face with Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs).

The programme is preceded by oversight visits; Legislature committees interact with local communities and stakeholders to gauge the scale of service delivery issues in the area. These committees will report their findings with recommendations for implementation to the House during the four-day sitting.

DATE:  16 October 2018 to 19 October 2018
VENUE:  Ward 28, Mqhele Village, Elliotdale
TIME: 10h00 daily
