Public Education

The Public Participation Unit and the Communications Section of the Legislature conduct educational tours for interested groups (Monday-Thursday: 08h30-16h00 and on Friday: 08h30-13h00). All that you have to do is to contact the Strategy and Communications Unit to make an appointment (040-6080218). Provide a date, time and number of people in the tour group. Schools must please provide the number of pupils and teachers, and tell us what grade the pupils are in and what language (English, isiXhosa or Afrikaans) should be used.

The Legislature also visits schools and communities as part of the Legislature public education/outreach programme to empower the public with knowledge regarding democratic and legislative processes. The educational talk focus on law-making process, public participation, the constitution and the political composition.

You are also welcome to attend the sitting of the House where you will be able to witness Members of the Provincial Legislature debating matters that affect your daily life. During sessions, the House sits as follows: Monday to Thursday from 14h15 onwards and Friday from 10h00. Members of the public are accommodated in the public galleries.
